Biography
Aimable Karasira was a Rwandan academic, singer, and online commentator known for criticizing official narratives and governance practices. He was imprisoned after 2021 and died in 2026 on the day he was due for release.
Circumstances
Died while in state custody on the day of scheduled release. Rwanda Correctional Service said he overdosed on prescribed medication. Human Rights Watch, CPJ, and other observers called for an independent investigation.
Alleged responsibility
