Kagame Reveals His True Colours: A Warmonger
BY DISMISSING THE DRC’S ANNOUNCEMENT OF FDLR DISARMAMENT, PRESIDENT PAUL KAGAME REVEALS HIS TRUE COLOURS: A WARMONGER
PORTLAND, Maine — August 01 st , 2026 — On July 29 th , 2026, the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo announced that the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) — a group founded by ethnic Hutu fighters, including some linked to the perpetrators of the 1994 Rwandan genocide — had signed a protocol on disarmament, demobilization and cantonment.
The government of Rwanda immediately dismissed the announcement.
If Kigali’s stated objective has been the neutralization of the FDLR, One would have expected it to welcome this development. For years the Kagame regime has accused the DRC of cooperating with the FDLR and has used that accusation to justify Rwanda’s military presence in eastern Congo, claiming it must fight and defeat the FDLR to prevent the group from invading Rwanda and imposing a genocide ideology.
“The Kagame regime is addicted to the war in the DRC and to the mineral wealth that Rwanda has exploited since its first invasion of the country in 1996,” said Ignace Rusagara, Spokesperson of the Rwanda National Congress.
“With its M23 militia having captured the major cities of Goma and Bukavu, Rwanda will not leave the DRC unless the international community finds the political will to force it out. This has happened before. In 2012 the international community compelled Rw anda to withdraw after the allied M23 militia seized Goma.”
