Why Rwanda’s Illiteracy is a National Security Triumph — An Open Letter to His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda

Dear Your Excellency, President Paul Kagame,
I am writing to formally congratulate you on your spectacular achievements in psychological warfare—specifically, the flawless execution of your sleep schedule. To rule a nation for thirty-two glorious years while keeping your conscience entirely undisturbed by reality is a medical miracle that scientists should study.
Looking at your government's own 2025 Rwanda Statistical Yearbook, I finally understand your grand strategy. These numbers are a triumph of macroeconomic minimalism.
Take our 8.8% formal employment rate. Western economists would panic, but you and I know the truth: you are a pioneer of the "Anti-Work" movement. By ensuring that 91.2% of the population is entirely untouched by the grueling corporate grind, you have eliminated the modern plagues of office politics and toxic middle management. Why stress over a 9-to-5 when you can enjoy the pure, unadulterated freedom of absolute economic stagnation? It is a masterclass in national relaxation.
Your educational strategy is where the true genius shines, serving as a brilliant cure for the national habit of overthinking. With only 15.4% of the labor force finishing secondary school and a microscopic 2.9% of youth attending tertiary education, you have single-handedly protected our young people from the burdens of a university degree. Higher education only leads to dangerous habits—like reading, questioning authority, or expecting a future. By shielding 97.1% of our youth from classrooms, you have successfully preserved their innocence.
And let us not overlook the crowning achievement of this strategy: a 15.6% computer literacy rate among the youth. While the rest of the world loses its mind over cyber warfare and online misinformation, Rwanda remains proudly un-hackable. You have built a flawless human firewall. You cannot be a victim of a data breach if you do not know where the power button
is. By keeping 84.4% of the youth blissfully ignorant of laptops, you have saved them from the horrors of digital eye strain, foreign algorithms, and TikTok addiction.
Mr. President, the beautifully engineered constitution allows you to reign until 2034. With eight more years of uninterrupted magic left, I am simply bursting with anticipation.
What legendary milestones are left to crush? If it took more than three decades of flawless, unchallenged rule to achieve an 8.8% employment rate, are we aiming for a perfect 0% by 2034? Will we finally achieve total victory over the internet and bring computer literacy down to a safe, single digit?
Please help me understand the vision, because from where the rest of us are sitting, the future looks beautifully blank.
Most sincerely and statistically overwhelmed,
