RNC Belgium Chapter members gathered for a meeting chaired by Alexis Rudasingwa to discuss members’ security and review organizational progress.

Members of the Rwanda National Congress (RNC) Belgium Chapter gathered on Saturday, November 7, 2026, for a chapter meeting chaired by Mr. Alexis Rudasingwa, Chairman of the RNC Belgium Chapter.

The meeting focused on two principal issues: the security and protection of RNC members, particularly Rwandan refugees living in exile, and a review of progress toward the organization’s objectives.

Security of RNC Members and Rwandan Refugees

A major part of the discussions focused on growing concerns over the safety and security of Rwandan political refugees and opposition members living outside Rwanda.

Following the reported murder of Sergeant Major Robert Kabera, members expressed serious concern over the threats faced by Rwandan refugees and political dissidents in exile.

Participants discussed allegations of transnational repression by the Kigali government, including the targeting, intimidation, surveillance, and persecution of individuals who have fled Rwanda because of their political beliefs or opposition activities.

The discussions emphasized the importance of vigilance, solidarity, and practical measures to strengthen the personal security of RNC members and other vulnerable Rwandan refugees.

Members also considered the need to remain alert to potential security threats, strengthen communication within the chapter, and make use of appropriate legal and institutional protection mechanisms available in their host countries.

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of protecting the fundamental rights of Rwandan refugees, including their right to personal security, freedom of expression, political association, and protection from persecution.

Review of Progress Toward RNC Objectives

The second major item on the agenda was a review of the Rwanda National Congress’s organizational objectives and the progress being made toward their realization.

Members reflected on the organization’s broader mission of advocating for democratic governance, political pluralism, respect for human rights, national unity, and peaceful political change in Rwanda.

The discussions provided an opportunity to assess the organization’s ongoing activities and consider how the Belgium Chapter can continue contributing to the realization of RNC’s political and organizational goals.

Strengthening the Belgium Chapter

The gathering also demonstrated the importance of maintaining active and engaged RNC chapters abroad.

Under the chairmanship of Alexis Rudasingwa, the Belgium Chapter continues to provide a platform for members to exchange views, discuss matters affecting the Rwandan community in exile, and participate in the organization’s activities.

The Rwanda National Congress remains committed to its vision of a peaceful, democratic, and inclusive Rwanda in which every citizen can exercise fundamental rights and freedoms without fear of persecution.
